A man and woman appeared in court this morning charged with trying to smuggle $9,000 of cannabis into Bermuda.

Jamal Woodley, 23 of St George’s and Katelyn Simmons, 27 of Pembroke denied conspiring together with others, not before the courts, to import into Bermuda the controlled drug cannabis between a date unknown and February 28.

Crown counsel Cindy Clarke told the court the cannabis was worth around $9,600.

No further details of the case were given in court.

Mr Woodley and Ms Simmons were granted $5,000 bail each with one surety each.

They will reappear in court later this month.
