Whether you want to become a fireman or a mechanic, this year’s Careers Fair should have the answers to all your questions.

Schoolchildren from across the island will descend on Bermuda College tomorrow and Friday to find out more about the careers open to them when they leave school.

Guidance

It will give the professionals of tomorrow a chance to get an insight into a range of job opportunities, as well as finding out what they need to study in order to achieve their dreams.

More than 80 booths will be manned by Government departments and companies including BELCO, the Bermuda Monetary Authority, Bacardi, HSBC Bank Bermuda, the Bermuda Hospitals Board and Capital G.

Prison guards and fire officers will also be able to answer your questions about what their jobs entail.

So whether you have your mind set on a career in the world of international business or in healthcare, the Careers Fair can provide you with informed and easy- to-understand guidance.

Rhona Emmerson, of the event’s management committee, said: “In view of the current Bermuda economic challenges, we have added a ‘Job Fair’ element for adults following the student visits.

“It is hoped that each exhibitor will participate by showcasing employment opportunities within their organizations on Thursday, between the hours of 4:30pm and 7:30pm with HR (human resources) personnel manning their booths.

Interaction

“The Careers Fair has been made possible over the past five years thanks to corporate and Government sponsorship as well as support from all participating exhibitors.

“This year we will continue to encourage a more thoughtful interaction between the exhibitors and the students.”

Careers 2011: Make the Connection’ takes place at the Bermuda College gymnasium, October 13-14, 10am-3pm. Adults can also attend on Thursday, from 4-6pm.
