WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 1: Bermuda.com has launched its first-ever mobile app and is making it free to anyone with an Apple or Android mobile device.
Bermuda.com Local Search is designed to help users easily find any business in Bermuda, even while they are on the go.
It permits searches by text or voice entry and allows the search results to be sorted by relevance, distance or alphabetical order.

The platform also has zoom and scroll maps to help users navigate where to go once they have found what they’re looking for.
Glenn Jones, business development and marketing manager for MediaHouse, the parent company of Bermuda.com and the Bermuda Sun, said: “I have seen this mobile search technology in action and it’s pretty amazing.
“When our sister company launched a similar app in Jamaica earlier this year it totally excited the marketplace.
“There was awesome feedback on the social media platforms. I’m expecting a like response once we’ve fully rolled it out here in Bermuda.”
The initial launch of bermuda.com Local Search will not include Blackberry devices, only Apple and Android mobile devices.
The company is still deciding when and whether a Blackberry mobile app will be developed.
The future viability of Research in Motion, the maker of Blackberry, is one of the considerations.
Mr. Jones added the company is focused on the quality of its search results.

“We’re asking business owners to download the app for free and check to see if their information is correct or perhaps even missing. If any of the data is incorrect, just send us an email at dataupdates@bermuda.com. We’ll verify the information, then fix it at no cost to business owners.
“This app will only be as good as its database and we think users are the best equipped to tell us what needs to be fixed.”
The platform has thousands of listings, most of them with a phone number, physical address and e-mail address.
Some also include operating hours and videos.
The bermuda.com Local Search mobile app is available for download in the App Store or at Google Play for Android device users. Search for: Bermuda Business Directory.
