FRIDAY, JULY 20: Bermuda.com Shop will slash 20 per cent off its online products as part of the first-ever pre-Cup Match eMonday, scheduled for July 23.
Bermuda.com Shop is an e-commerce gateway for Bermuda-made and inspired products to be sold around the world.
Online vendors include Bermuda iArt by Stephen West, Astwood Dickinson’s Bermuda Collection and Bacardi Rum Cakes by Carole Holding. All Bermuda-based vendors have agreed to slash prices 20 per cent at the online store for one day only.
“We launched bermuda.com Shop in February and this is our first opportunity to join in on the excitement of eMonday,” said MediaHouse Business Development and Marketing Manager Glenn Jones.
“When we took the idea to our vendors, they all said ‘yes’ emphatically. This is like going to a shopping mall and every store in the mall is having a 20 per cent off sale.” Mr. Jones said this is an excellent opportunity for Bermuda residents to buy gifts for friends and family overseas because the website will arrange the shipping.
The Government’s Department of E-commerce organizes eMonday with the cooperation of the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce, the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation and others. Since 2010 it has taken place in November to coincide with the pre-Christmas eMonday promotion in the US.
This year will be the first eMonday in July, strategically scheduled to happen just before Cup Match. The second eMonday of the year will be November 26.
“This initiative helps to promote economic empowerment, workforce development and sustainable development by encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation,” said Patrice Minors, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.
“Since its start in 2010, the participation in eMonday has grown. Due to the success of last year’s eMonday, it was decided that there will be two this year.”
The Bookmart, Wine Online, Premier Tickets, Gibbons Company and Fantasea Bermuda are among dozens of local merchants participating in eMonday on July 23.
