SATURDAY, JULY 21: Wi-fi on the beach is now on offer from telecoms firm Digicel.
The company turned on its wi-fi service at the island’s popular Horseshoe Bay Beach in time for the weekend.
Digicel Bermuda CEO Wayne Caines said: “We live in a connected world and the ability to use wi-fi at this world-famous beach will be well received by many visitors and locals alike.
“Customers wishing to enjoy high-speed internet as they soak up the sun are now able to do easily.”
The new service means beachgoers can log on from tablets, cellphones or laptops.
Customers can log on by connecting to the internet at the beach, following the Digicel prompts and pay by credit card.
They can also buy prepaid cards from the concession at Horseshoe Beach.
Prices range from $2.95 for an hour to $24.95 for a month.
Mr Caines said: “We believe this will be a particularly huge convenience for tourists who have their data turned off to avoid roaming charges, but who would still like to access the internet from their phones and tablets.
“In these times, internet access needs to be readily available and it needs to be affordable.”
