MediaHouse Limited is weathering the economic storm, producing profits consistent with the previous year. After tax and interest, the company made $3.4 million in the six-month period ending March 31, 2009.

Randy French, MediaHouse president and chief executive officer, said: "During this period, the global economic recession has dominated the economy. Although there have been many negative influences associated with the downturn and the company's results are down from the prior year, MHL's results for the opening six months of fiscal 2009 remain positive.

"MHL has aggressively worked to maintain its revenue targets while controlling its expenses."

MediaHouse, which is the parent company of the Bermuda Sun, enjoyed profits of $3.93 million for the first six-month period of the previous fiscal year.

The company's profits are front-loaded, with more revenue from its phone directory business falling within the first six-months of the year.

The board of directors declared a dividend of $0.50 per common share to be paid to shareholders of record as of April 14, 2009.

Mr. French said: "This decision reflects the board's optimistic outlook toward the company's future.

"During this period of economic downturn, the board and management remain optimistic and they are encouraged by the company's success."

He added that MediaHouse was exploring "new business development opportunities both in print and online".
